I definitely recommend this!! Can't wait to see what Yuki Midorikawa comes up with next! ^^ Though it would be better if they could get together, but that did not was still beautiful though!

But the ending on this movie was too good. Whenever I watch any anime, I am really careful about the ending because even though an anime could be great, the ending could really kill the whole story for me. Seeing them both struggling to hold each other and feel each other's warmth did make my eyes water. It was really heartbreaking to see both Gin and Hotaru growing up to be good friends and eventually falling in love.

I am sure that on this movie there are many reviewers who has retold the summary of this story in their own review which I am going to skip over because I I loved her previous work "Natsume Yuuchinjou" and I was hoping this would be another good anime to pass my time on. I started to watch this because it was written by Yuki Midorikawa. Hope you like my review though ^^ ok so lets get on with it. I am not great at writing reviews, but I am trying to get better so please bare with me on this one. According to Japan's Oricon sales chart, Blu-ray disc sets sold well shortly after their release. The sets included bonus content such as illustrations, stickers, brochures, and one of Gin's masks. DVDs and limited edition Blu-ray disc sets were made available in Japan on February 22, 2012. It was also given the Animation Film Award at the 66th Annual Mainichi Film Awards in Japan. The film was also screened at the 2011 Leeds International Film Festival in November and at the Anime Expo convention in Los Angeles on June 30, 2012.įollowing its premiere in Scotland, Hotarubi no Mori e won the festival's Jury Award.

My first expectation before watching the film is to be like, 5 Centimeter Per Second! A very simple and clean plot, yet the beauty in it lies within. To be honest, I didn't expect a 44-minute movie to be like this. One of the anime that really made me cried a lot, following Anohana & Angel Beats. The pain of losing your childhood friend and first love really hurt like hell.
The story ends with Hotaru accepting her pain and moving on with her life. The night ends in tragedy when Gin mistakenly touches a young boy who snuck into the spirit festival, though before he disappears, he and Hotaru embrace and confess their love for one another. Hotaru, having the same age with Gin, goes to a date with him. Hotaru begins to age, as Gin ages slower than human life. As time flows by, they still meet each other. The eagerness to see both of them having fun together, as a child and a young man, will melt your heart.
At this moment, you really get hook by the momentum near to climax. As the summer ends, the girl gave her goodbye and promise to come back next summer. Playing together for the whole summer with happiness seen in their face. A kind heart young man and a cute girl meets, from then their friendship opens. From the beginning near to the climax, starts a light-hearted introduction of the two main characters.
